Very entertaining, not disappointing

I was not disappointed in this novel at all. I agree it had some Deathlands touches, but not enough to make it seem like an imitation. It had a lot of action and adventure and interesting characters in it. Maybe the main heroes weren't featured as much as they usually are but I really didn't notice it. Brigid, though, who is my favorite character seemed to be short-tempered with Kane throughout most of the book but that was minor. The only thing that really disturbed me and kept me from giving Prodigal Chalice 5 stars, is the scenes of child abuse in it. This same writer also had child abuse scenes in the last Outlanders book he wrote, Sargasso Plunder. It bothered me then and it bothered me with this one. This is something that doesn't usually happen in the Outlanders series so it's really jarring to me.But if you overlook that, it's a very entertaining book.
