Pro Tools 7 Power!: The Comprehensive Guide [With CDROM]

This book is a great companion to the Pro Tools reference guide. It's a bit technical, but a great help for newcomers and experienced Pro Tools users alike.

I love this book. Before reading it my life was in shambles. Cold wet concrete and darkness. The sound of distant dripping and a scurrying of something earnest and defiant in its avoidence. My temples burn. I mutter and walk in circles then stumble. Groping the fetid ground I find this book. I open to the first page and the room is flooded with sacred healing light. All that was veiled and hidded comes clear. All intents are refined and harnessed to the sublime. Music flows and is realized. The barriers between musical vision and realization are removed. All due to this humble book. No longing. No lack of longing. Two arrows meeting in mid air! MU!

This is not a book for beginners to audio recording and Pro Tools, but it is an excellent reference book, and the author(s) are very experienced users. This is a book you should buy and keep on your shelf for when you need some help. I certainly don't plan on selling mine, and I will check out the next edition. Some improvements for the next edition: the book is full of very useful tips, but they're scattered all over the book and not indexed, so if you've forgotten where it is you'll have a hard time finding it. Also, this is not task-oriented, so if you're a beginner, you'll find it overwhelming. Check out a video tutorial in conjunction with this book, such as VTN's ProTools course, which gives an intro to audio recording as well as a lot of task-based basics. Pro Tools 7 Video Tutorial

602 pages of pure Pro Tools 7 Power, baby! This book has got it all. If you're new to Pro Tools, this is a wonderful reference. The CD-ROM has helpful interactive movie tutorials. Even experienced Pro Tools users would find this book beneficial.
