Highly informational, but not an easy read.

This book was recommended to me by an Aboriginal Canadian person, whom I trust. Although her tribe has found this book helpful as a teaching guide, some Native Americans believe their spiritual lessons and traditions should only be passed down orally, so you may hear negative chatter on the Internet about this book, books like it, or the author of the book. As a white person, curious about Native American spirituality, I found this book informative as a comprehensive study. However, I only gave it four stars, because the copy I own has few pictures, and it's not what I'd call "an easy read." For example, the first two chapters were the least helpful, so I put it down and didn't go back to it until much later. Upon finishing the book, though, I feel I probably understand Native American spirituality considerably better than I did, when my reading began.

little book with much to re-read

I was surprised with the amount of information inside such a small book. To me this book contains much truth about the decline in the quality of life, and I believe we have moved too far from our connection with nature. With my own experiences with dream and aware visions, it may make sense to follow specific rituals to be more focused with using our visions and have a clarity of what they mean and how to apply them for the common good. It seems the American Indian is more aware of how useful visions can be as guides than many of the rest of us. Great book!

Clear and concise

The author is not of AmerIndian descent, but that is not a problem.I highly recommend this book for people that are interested in AmerIndian spirituality and philosophy.
