Brings back memories

This is a great book--well-written and teaches some great lessons! I read it in second grade and rereading it has brought back such great memories!

Memories

I read this book while in elementary school during the 1950's. It was such an enjoyable experience that I remembered the title, and in the late 1990's I purchased a copy. I re-read Primrose Day and can happily report that my memories were correct. It's a wonderful little book.

A great alternative to Judy Mooney

Looking for a great chapter book full of adventure and fun where the kids are polite? This is it. Caroline Haywood's books are refreshing and fun.

nice clean story

It's the story of a little girl named Merry who goes to America from London to stay with relatives until World War 2 war ends. She really misses her family back home. While she is living with her aunt and uncle she has many adventures. She gets to go on a picnic with her friends at school. She also goes to a birthday party. Read Primrose Day to find out all about Merry and her adventures. What did you like or not like about the book? The book is full of good old fashion fun. No violence or bad words are found in this book. Kids respect the adults as well. More books like these should be written today. I would recommend this book to kids who are just starting out with chapter books. The chapters are not too long and not too short. It would also make a good read aloud to classrooms.

A terrific read for any kid

I read this book when I was a kid over and over again. My old copy is falling apart from being read so much. Although the story takes place at the beginning of WW2, it reflects an era in which childhood seemed more innocent than today. It's the story of a little girl named Merry who goes to America from London to stay with relatives until the war ends. The story meant a lot to me since my parents are both from London and I was raised in the USA. I would recommend this to everyone.
