Presumption of Guilt

The first novel by Lelia Kelly is not an earth shaking renewal or a highly literary thriller novel. However... she does provide you with a very well written and exciting few hours of escape.Lawyer Laura Chastain is certainly someone I could enjoy in a couple of sequels. She is a modern heroine that simply tries to live her life as good as she can and is not too bothered with all the psychological problems some of our current lady protagonists seem to need these days ( Scarpetta e.g.).Instead we have a fast rolling storyline and a good plot lived out be real and, mostly likeable characters.Only one recommendation...simply enjoy

I picked up this book by accident and it was the best "by mistake book I bought in a long time". The book kept me engrossed in all the characters and though one has a "hint" of who did what you never really KNOW anything until you turn to the last page. Enjoy!

I dearly hope Lelia Kelly writes another book soon. I couldn't put it down. I work in a law firm and usually read every legal suspense thiller I can get my hands on. Ms. Kelly's book is now one of my favorites. Her writing is as good as Stewart Woods, John Grisham and Steve Martini. Great effort!

I am not a big reader of this genre but Presumption of Guilt came highly recommended, and for good reason. Laura Chastain is so human--not always as clever about her personal life as she is razor sharp about her work. The story is great and keeps you guessing. Personal favorites -- the author's dry asides about Atlanta's growth and sprawl 'actually aspiring to be Los Angeles', and a wry comment at the beginning of one of the last chapters about those who spend their lives at shopping malls--you'll have to read to laugh.

This is a great book. It carries you along; it makes you care about the characters [even the bad guys]; it's wonderfully literate. Lelia Kelly has one of those slightly askew, penetrating perspectives on the world that reveals how truly wierd, terrifying and wonderful the world is beneath our surface calm and order. But be warned: You won't be able to put it down!
