Prescription Drugs: Alternative Uses, Alternative Cures: Over 1,500 New Uses for Fda-Approved Drugs

It would be almost impossible not to like this handy "little" manual. Written by names you should recognize, Kevin Laughlin and Joyce Generali, this edition has over 1600 pages of great drug and alternative cure information. I like it even more than the ever popular Merck editions you see everywhere. It is published as two sections: Part one tells and is organized by disease states, and you can check on any new arrivals for treating various disorders. Then the authors help even more by adding section two (about page 977) where individual pharmaceutical profiles are listed in order, and additional info is given according to the drugs. So, you can easily locate Alternative cures by either checking for medical conditions OR by additonal specific drug lists. It is a very well written text, and the price/information exchange is what I call a high 9. There is a tendency however for drug companies to use this format to advance their products. For example, sometimes if an agent causes drowsiness, the next thing you know it seems like they (various manufacturers of this drug) might "suggest" using it for a sleep aid or to augment in ADHD kids when they are unable to rest due to their various meds they take. I bring this up only because you have to consider ALL OF THE SIDE EFFECTS of each pharmaceutical, not just this good one you might want to sell. guyairey
