Preparing Catholics for Eternity

What a great read. The author does an incredible job citing both what the Catholic Church teaches and what the Bible teaches. Thus doing so essentially removes all opinion and let's the reader see the problematic doctrine that the RCC has when compared to God's Word. While this book can be a quick read I find that it is much better to slowly go through each topic and really look at the context of what both sources are saying. I am so appreciate of the author doing all the background work and allowing me to then know exactly where to go without spending hours of searching. I highly recommend this book to both Catholics and those that have a heart to reach Catholics with the gospel. I would like to make note that of all the negative reviews for this book, only one review actually comments on the book specifically and appears to have truly read it. Sadly the other negative reviews simply seem to be using this book review listing as a place to share their frustration with those that are confronting the RCC with God's Truth.

I have the privilege to Know Mike Gendron in person and I can say that he IS really concerned for those precious souls that are deceived by the Catholic church. As a former Roman Catholic I realize that the priest never encouraged me to read the Bible and instead he said thet Church had authority over Scripture (the Catholic Catechism also sais that) and this is completely contrary to Scripture. What Mike Gendron does in his book is to expose the contradictions between THE BIBLE and the Roman Catholic Church. What he is telling you is to READ THE BIBLE and find for yourself. Don't take my interpretation or any body else's interpretation of the Bible. Read it YOURSELF and let the Holy Spirit to lead you to the truth. This is a great book. I like facts only and this book is scripture verses catechism. No opinions, just facts. The Reformation is when the bible was changed...by catholics! The Apocrypha books (7 extra books) were added in 1546 by the Council of Trent. Please research this for yourself. The Jews had the "true" old testament and they rejected the Apocrypha as scripture. See it pays to work off of written facts not what you have heard. F.Y.I. Take a look at your CCC 841!! You might be shocked at what you find. Please read things for yourself; Take heed that no man deceives you! Always judge other books (including the catechism) by the scriptures in the bible. God Bless.

I was a Catholic for 28 years, I went through all the classes, all the sacraments, church every Sunday. I always felt like there was something I was missing, but did'nt know what it was. Hey, I was in the "One True Religion." What more could I do? I had always believed that the Bible was the ultimate authority in the church. It wasn'nt utill I actually sat down and read it for myself that I saw the major differences between what the Catholic Church taught and what the infallable word of God said. I saw the FREE GIFT from God to us was an invitation to spend ETERNITY with him in heaven, you did'nt have to work for it, you just had to accept by FAITH that Jesus did it all on the cross for us. Admittance of your sins and Faith believing is the only thing you need to come to him with. I felt so deprived from the word of God that I can't get enough of it. Just get your self a good Bible, I reccomend the SPIRIT FILLED LIFE BIBLE FOR STUDENTS, because if all you ever did was what the Catholic Church taught you, you will need a good student bible. Dive right in, and you will never look back. Then on judgment day you will have no fear, you know the truth, thy word is truth. "You are not saved by works, you work because you are saved."

One would think that this book is exclusively for Christians in order that they would be better equiped to address some important issues and differences between Biblical Christianity and Roman Catholicism. Having been a devout Roman Catholic, Mike Gendron goes deeper. Roman Catholics are very laking in what the Bible really says. Few read it. They assume that what the church says is Biblical. Gendron shows Catholics what the Roman Catholic church really teaches, how inconsistent with its own teachings it is and how unbiblical many of its beliefs and traditions truly are. If a Roman Catholic is sincere about learning more about the Biblical Jesus. If he/she truly desires to have a relationship with this Jesus instead of just having "religion;" This is the book for them.It is not Mike Gendron's opinion that is expressed. He extensively quotes the Bible and the Roman Caholic Catechism in order to get at truth.P.S. For 46 years, I too was a Roman Catholic.
