Survival in the wild creates a hierarchy of predators and their prey; this interaction among the animals forms the basis of a complex ecological system known as the food chain. This description may be from another edition of this product.
Bruce Brooks is an incredible writer. This book is one of the finest examples ever of nonfiction with voice. It's unflinching, yet poetic at the same time. Bruce Brooks loves to get right up close with intriguing (sometimes disturbing) creatures, and he does a fine job of describing the lives and behaviors of predator and prey--life and death dramas going on all around us all the time. We think of predators as lions and tigers, but they can be as seemingly innocuous as the ant lion (as tiny as its prey), and they are nonetheless fascinating. A book not to miss.
