This is a terrific book. Janet McHenry knows from what she writes and uses her real life examples of raising her own teens and teaching teenagers in her writing. From the first pages, where she describes that awful feeling when you first realize your child is not behaving the way you thought he was, to the real, concrete, useful suggestions on how to handle all kinds of situations (drugs, dating, lying, dress, etc.) this book hits the mark. Not to be trite, but I laughed, I cried...and I prayed. The suggestions for prayer are real, and from the gut. It is a book you can buy by the dozen and hand them out to all your friends and they will be enternally grateful. It is that good, and that useful.
