Practicing Excellence: A Physician's Manual to Exceptional Health Care

Dr. Beeson is meticulously thorough in describing the care every patient should be receiving every day from every healthcare professional. In reading this book, I found myself making notes in the margins and highlighting several excerpts that I found especially useful. I could not put it down until I had read it cover to cover. This book NEEDS to be read and MUST be followed in order for physicians to perform at their true potential. If all physicians followed Dr. Beeson's words of wisdom, we would likely see a drastic decline in litigation, and a suprising increase in patient satisfaction.

As the president of a large multi-hospital hospital system, I've seen many books come and go over the years. Some made a ripple, but none of them seemed to make a lasting difference. Dr Beeson's book is an exception! I've seen his book talked about among a large and diverse maedical staff of more than 2000. The book is written by a practicing physician (a key ingredent for doctors reeading the book), for physicians. The book seems to really resonate with physicians---it makes sense.

This book is chock full of practical tips to improve the patient perception of care and describes ways to get physicians engaged in delivering excellent patient care. I read it front to back and have gone back through several sections numerous times. Great read!

I literally could not put this book down until I had read it from cover to cover. I am a physician and I strive for excellence in everything I do. Every topic that was discussed just made so much sense. If healthcare workers would apply the suggestions made in this book, there would be no limit on the success that would follow.
