A must-have companion to the maligned film. Actually, I like the film, though I must confess that it seems better on the home screen than the big one and the closed-captions are a must. The gifted Robin Williams does a lot of muttering under his breath, just as Popeye did in the original Fleischer cartoon gems. But the book has a lot of pix and facts that make it an interesting companion to your video or DVD copy of POPEYE.
better than the movie

This book has over 100 black and white pictures from behind the scenes of the film. There are very detailed chapters about Sweethaven, the characters, and the special effects. There are even some song lyrics. This book is worth buying.
