On five sets of two-page spreads, simple words are introduced, using settings in the home of characters Edward Tall and Teddy Small. Each page-set features a group of words with a common theme (breakfast, toys, bathtime, bedtime, and in the garden). The pop up scene shows the images that match the words, in context. Below these scenes, the words are written out alongside of a small matching image. Part game, Pop-Up Word Book makes learning a little more fun. Author/illustrator John Patience did a great job of making this a bit like a seek and find book, which will entertain kids. The illustrations are bright and colorful and of course there's the pop-up action to amuse kids of all ages.
