Dancin With THE KING

Very good autobiography from the aging Polka King. Interesting reading on how the Original YANKS in post WWII rose on Columbia (now Sony) Records to the national pop charts with a universal 2/4 Polka , "JUST BECAUSE" and Later with a 3/4 "BLUES SKIRT WALTZ" History was made with the genius of Frankie Yankovic and his Yanks including.. Johhny Pecon (vocals & accordion), Georgie Cook (banjo), Al Naglitch (piano), Hank Bokal(drums) and Hokie Hocevar(bass).

A must-read for Yankovic fans

Most of us who like Frankie Yankovic have been able to get only a glimmer of the man himself, through liner notes and a video. This book completes the picture. Author Robert Dolgan lets Frankie speak for himself, even allowing the blue-collar English to come through unedited -- "let me tell you about a jaunt me and the Yanks took recently". Yankovic's complicated life through the mid-70s is covered in a way that finally allows his fans to understand what made this top-notch showman tick.

Yankovic's life through the 1970s is documented

Dolgan writes Yankovic's bio through the 1970s. An interesting, easy-to read book on the life America's Polka King, Frankie Yankovic. The book showcases Frank's tremendous achievements for the polka movement and depicts his turbulent, troubled family life with his first wife June and the problems of being a "star" and having a family. For those interested in polka music, this is an enjoyable, enlightening read!
