Plain Paradise

I loved the Book Plain Paradise, Once I started it I could not put it down, it just kept you wanting to know what was going to happen next. Beth Wiseman is a fantastic author , I have read all of her books and everyone is great, If I was rating this book from 1 to 10 it would definitely get a 10

Great story!

Plain Paradise, by Beth Wiseman, is another book in the Daughters of the Promise series. Although I've enjoyed all of them, this one is my favorite so far. Josie returns to Lancaster County hoping to get to know the daughter she gave up for adoption 17 years earlier. Her arrival is a shock to the Amish family that adopted Linda, and Linda isn't sure she wants to know her biological mother. The story focuses mainly on the growth of a strong relationship between Linda and Josie, and between Linda and her adoptive mother. Linda's love for a young Amish man named Stephen is also a big part of the story. Part of the story relates to Josie's search for the faith she has slipped away from over the years, so religion and faith are mentioned frequently. However, it fits naturally into the story and isn't preachy. Though the Amish religion isn't one I'm familiar with, I could relate to the struggles these characters faced. This book held my interest and tugged at my emotions. I already knew many of the characters from reading other books in this series, but it isn't necessary to read the others to follow what's going on in this one. I was a little disappointed in the ending as it didn't meet my expectations. Still, the end was uplifting and fit the story. I highly recommend this book. This book was provided for review by the publisher, Thomas Nelson.

Wonderbaar!

Plain Paradise is the BEST book in Beth's series!! She not only shares her talent of writing, her faith, facts about the Amish, but in this book, she showed us her heart. This book deals with adoption- and anyone who has a chosen child - can identify completely with the adoptive parents!! Our family has many adoptive children- not only from different religious faiths, but cultures. Our daughter, who is mixed raced, I know will one day want to find her birth mom , which I feel is God's will. Beth did a superior job of expressing the feelings of the adoptive child, birth mom and adoptive parents. Beth also dealt with God's gift of healing- what a miracle and many of us can identify that as well- Beth again, used a personal experience, to help her write about it. Thank you Beth!! I can hardly wait for the next one in her series. They just keep getting better and better!

Another Awesome book by Beth Wiseman

I received this book Plain Paradise from [...] to review. This review is based on my opinions of the book and its author. This book is the 4th book in The Daughters of the Promise Novels. This book follows along Linda Huyard, a 17 yr old Amish girl who was adopted at 2 weeks old. Her birth mother was 17 yrs old when she had an encounter with a teacher. Her parents forced the adoption. Linda has no idea she was adopted. One day her birthmother, Josie, shows up wanting to meet her and get to know her. Josie has cancer and is terminal. Linda's parents have to tell her and her brothers she was adopted. This book incorporates new and old characters from other books in this series. We watch Linda go through her Rumspringa and follow into her faith. We see Josie become a believer and have a miracle happen in her life. The book shows all the emotions that go with being adopted and the emotions all involved have but they continue to rely on Faith in God and it sees them all through. The book is well written and was just a wonderful story of lost faith being found and new bonds being formed. I recommend this book highly. Beth Wiseman is an awesome author.

Plain Paradise gave me a glimpse of heaven

I was excited to get this book in the mail the other day. My husband is in the hospital recovering from heart surgery and I brought my book with me and spent the day with him there just like at home. He watched t.v. while I curled up in a chair by him and read. I shared a lot about the book with him It was a wunderbaar day. The characters old and new were outstanding and Beth really drew me in until the very end, especially with her personal comments at the end. Thank you Beth . I can't wait until book 5 and the new series. I will now pass it on to my old order Amish friends from Arthur Il. They are a blessing in my life.
