Serves its purpose

The book is not extremely interesting but serves its purpose. I wouldn't recommend reading it unless you're very interested in the history of psychology, mainly because I think the topic is dry; the book is fairly well written, however. It would have been better if it had included a section on the impact of Aaron Beck, Albert Ellis, and Don Meichenbaum on the practice of psychotherapy. Lee J. Markowitz, Department of Psychology, University of Waterloo (Ontario, Canada)

Into Psych Instructors - Pay Attention!

This is a wonderfully human view of human psychology. I really wish I had known about it when I started in psychology. If you're teaching Intro Psych, please use this book in addition to your expenisve-glossy-papered-text-book of choice. Your students will thank you.As well, the new 3rd edition chapter 'Minds and Machines' is a nice start at bridging the gap between computer scientists and psychologists - something sorely needed.

Very Entertaining and Educational

Raymond Fancher provides an entertaining account of the development of psychological theory based on the most significant contributoers to the field. He did an excellent job of weaving biographical information with theoretical information. The stories were amazing and funny (especially Darwin and the bugs and DesCartes and the Fly). GOOD WORK! I feel like I learned alot without being mentally drained.
