(Music Sales America). An excellent collection of over 100 pieces in a variety of styles specially arranged for the adult student. Includes works by Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and many more.
As an adult, I've been playing for about 4 years now, but intermittently and not as steadily as I'd like or should. BUT, that said, this is not a book for a beginner, that is, one who wants to start playing piano from the ground up. For that I'd start with Bastien or Alfred, Levels 1 & 2. Maybe, truly, get a pile of children's books--the kind with puppies and butterflies on the covers--and start there. I opened this book and found a number of pieces that I can play pretty competently right from the start, and also a number of pieces that, with work, I'll be able to manage. There are also a large number of pieces that I'm nowhere near able to handle yet. However, the titles are wonderful, and the pieces seem to be well-chosen with the idea of keeping the non-advanced adult happy for a very long time. Whoever called this a beginner's book was perhaps thinking that it's a beginner's book compared to Beethoven's concertos or Mozart's greatest hits, but for those who just yesterday learned where middle C is, this book is deep waters.
Great Book!

I am an adult who recently started piano lessons. I found this book to be an excellent compliment to the book provided by my teacher. The variety is great. And while some pieces are a bit challenging, it keeps me on my toes!! Great book!
Good for intermediate players

This book was perfect for me. I believe none of the pieces in the book were of the simplified versions, but nevertheless easy enough for me to play without any practicing. However the title is deceiving. Definitely not for the beginner. Must have at least 3-5 years of serious traditional piano training before one can even begin to play the pieces in this book. If you can play the original Beethoven's Fur Elise from beginning to end, then this book might be just right or somewhat challenging for you. Make sure you browse in person before you buy any printed music. That is the easiest way to tell if it is your level before plunking down the cash.

This was a great book since I am just learning piano. It is a very down to earth book that as a starting musician I found very easy to work with.
A GREAT Book for Adult Beginners

It took me a long time to get up the courage to finally pursue my grown-up fantasy of playing the piano, and after searching through a number of books, I found Piano Pieces for Adult Pieces was just the ticket to help me learn! The layout was so clear and easy to follow (even without my reading glasses!) and the selections were wide enough that after only three months I found myself impressing not only myself, but my wife and kids, as well. With the help of this wonderful book, I may end up at Carnegie Hall yet!
