I jump started with this book when my son was 4.5 yr old, and atleast a 1/2 hr daily practice for 5 months, the results were simply amazing. My kid was an excellent reader just before he started his Kindegarten. My son started chapter books as soon as he was in first marking period in Kindergarten, thanks to this well planned book. I recommend this book for all the kids who are ready to read, especially since this book teaches the various technique to read, and not just memorize the words.

I used this workbook with my 4 year old daughter. When I started using this book she was able to read and spell few words. I made her practice the exercises this book offers on almost every day(5 days a week). This book teaches the concept in a very systematic way. Like Short Vowels in series, Long Vowel in series. Practice Tests are great way to Test what your child has learnt. My daughter finished this workbook in almost 4 months. By the time she finished this book, she was reading chapter books and was able to write sentences. She could read almost anything at about 4.5 years. It helped her building her spelling skills too. She had to appear in Early Entrance Test to get admission in Kindergarten and her phonics knowledge was a huge plus in the assessment. I give all credit to this workbook for her language skills. I highly recommend this book for children 4 plus years. This book has variety of exercises at various difficulty levels so I do not suggest it for kids less than 4 years.
