Petrified

Each of Barbara Nadel's books in the Inspector Ikmen series are police thrillers that deal with somewhat grisly and "sicko" topics (supposedly pulled from the local Turkish headlines). Don't let this scare you away - if you're OK with CSI then you'll be fine with the topics of these novels. I enjoy how these books allow the reader to be immersed in the mysterious and intriguing world of everyday life in Istanbul (and in some of the later novels - other parts of Turkey as well). Having been lucky enough to travel to this marvelous city I am immediately transported there when reading these books. Overall, Nadel's novels are exciting, fast paced and very entertaining. I heave read all in the Inspector Ikmen series and they involve the same characters from earliest to latest published.
