Of course I'd heard the praises of Leigh Greenwood's novels, but since I'm usually not very big on Westerns, I hadn't tried any for myself, until PETE was put in front of me. Well! I'll be trying more of Mr. Greenwood's works now!Pete wakes up lying naked on the ground in Wyoming Territory. There is a bullet wound grazing his head, and the last thing he remembers is two men asking if they may join him at his campsite.Anne married her childhood sweetheart, Peter, by proxy three months ago--but since he hasn't yet arrived from his home back East, other men are trying to take Anne's ranch away from her.I was pulled into the novel immediately, wondering about Pete's situation and caring for both him and Anne right away. Mr. Greenwood is a master of storytelling, so I'll let him do the rest of the telling. Be assured that the plot is intriguing and finely crafted from start to finish; the Western flavor is done to perfection; and both hero and heroine learn and grow in the warmth of their friendship and mutual respect. I LOVE MS. GREENWOOD'S SERIES. I READ ALL THE BRIDE BOOKS AND REALLY ENJOYED EACH OF THEM. I JUST STARTED THE COWBOYS. I HAVE ALREADY READ SEAN,WARD,AND PETE. I FOUND SO FAR THAT PETE IS MY FAVORITE. THERE WAS ALOT OF EXCITING AND TENDER MOMENTS.PETE IS PRETTY MUCH A NOBLE GUY,TRYING TO SAVE ANNE FROM ALL THE MEN TRYING TO TAKE HER RANCH AWAY.I LIKED THE FACT PETE WAS TRYING NOT TO FALL IN LOVE WITH ANNE,AND HOW SHE LOVED HIM FROM THE START. I COULD GO ON BUT YOU MUST READ PETE YOURSELF.I COULDN'T PUT THE BOOK DOWN. THIS IS ONE OF MS.GREENWOOD'S BEST.I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE REST OF THE COWBOY SERIES.
