Informative yet fun -- one of the best in a wonderful series

With their clever use of transparencies (which allow the pictures to evolve with one flick of a page), this has been one of my daughter's great favourites since she was 1 year old. She loves watching the penguins dive into the water (and turning over the transparency page, discovering them swimming underwater amongst the seals); other favourites include a little penguin picking rocks and carrying them over to the nest he is building; and the emperor penguins huddling together for warmth on the ice. The whole series is a wonderful way for even the youngest of readers to discover nature; one which they can continue to enjoy and learn from as they grow older.
