This classic comprehensive book has been significantly revised and upd ated. It includes chapters on assessment and care of the child, nutrit ion, accidents and poisoning, the gastrointestinal tract and dermatolo gy.
I referred to this book frequently throughout my pediatric residency training and invariably came away with an in-depth understanding of the pathophysiology, clinical presentation, and evidence-based treatment of a wide breadth of pediatric problems-- I wish I had time to read the whole thing! I consult Nelson's Pediatrics often as well but usually find that Rudolph's provides more complete information on etiology and more up-to-date treatment recommendations. Rudolph's is generally more thorough than Nelson's. My only unfavorable comment on Rudolph's is that the index is not as extensive as Nelson's so that one has to search somewhat longer for the relevant section. Still, I think Rudolph's Pediatrics is an essential reference for all pediatric residents and practitioners.

This is the book every post-graduate ought to read during residency days in pediatric ward. It helps boost clinical acumen by making diagnosis at the bedside with a very logical approach. It is excellent while describing the diseases of kidney, heart and nervous system. After going through the chapters in detail it infuses a kind of confidence in making diagnosis; and coming to differential diagnosis for a number of presentations of various illnesses. Sometimes, i feel it is a must not only for dealing with complicated and day to day problems but for passing examinations too.
