Peace Crane

The ability to create a story which combines urban culture & past war horrors to present existing issues is what SheilaHamanaka has accomplished. To show the cultural differences of children through the similarities of their hopes for a better world is brought forth in the poetic words and the beautifully illustrated picturebook, Peace Crane. This poem for children demonstrates Hamanaka's ability to combine the past to the present to create a new kaleidoscope view of the urban fears and past results through the voice of a child.
