Peace At Last

This book is easy reading, very interesting and should be used at every VA Hospital and hospice courses. As a hospice volunteer, Deborah explained many problems I see in my none Veteran patients and helps me understand those Veterans who cannot speak of their war experiences. I hope to use her suggestions in resolving these issues before passing. Thank you.

Stories of pain and peace are built into a book for caregivers, family members and vets

PEACE AT LAST: STORIES OF HOPE AND HEALING FOR VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES is a fine inspirational piece for veterans and their families and comes from the author's work in a hospice setting at a VA hospital. Stories of pain and peace are built into a book for caregivers, family members and vets and offers their stories juxtaposed with hospice experiences and lessons in an inspirational fine guide.

important, sensitive

As a nurse I find I can only read small pieces of this book at a time. It is sensitively written, and when I read of Grassmans' experiences it takes a while to comprehend the depth of healing that can be achieved with the right skills at hand. This is more than just stories. She instucts, offers insights into communication and healing skills that we can all use in every relationship, not just for vets or with patients. My patients will benefit from me having read this and so will everyone I know.

Inspiring,

This book is like no other, you can't set it down. It's like a bad car crash. some painful stories but can't wait to see the endings of each intimate TRUE life story of veterans that they often won't even share to their own spouse. It is finally captured in this book with many Aha! moments. Be prepared for chills that will give you warmth and pride of these brave soldiers who show courage to peak around their stoic wall and trust the nurses enough to be welcomed home for the first time on American soil. No matter how big or small the contribution or sacrifice as service to the USA, this book shows us that we are doing an unjustice if it goes without acknowledgment & respect. This nurse takes us on her own spiritual journey from prejudices to unconditional gratitude for our soldiers. I only wish I read this book sooner so that my eyes would have been open during missed opportunities with my grandfather and others.
