I found this book engrossing in a depressing sort of way. It's sad we are still basically exploiting other living beings just because we can dominate them. Then we pompously rationalize how this horror is justified. I bet if Christ came back to earth again, we would crucify Him again, for sure.

Problems with solutions. I hate it when books just complain about what's wrong. This book exposes medical research and the farm industry etc. Good and bad, and gives remedies. It also gives suggestions on how to gradually eat less meat without being fanatic. I also enjoyed finding out who were the famous vegetarians, and the quotes from many other famous people.

Being an animal lover, until the Internet(when I found all those worldwide animal organizations) I felt like a bit of an eccentric. This book made me realize, many well known people share my beliefs. My girlfriend gave me this book for my birthday and I didn't expect to read it. I'm not a book reader. But I started opening it up and found myself reading most of it within a couple of days. It gave me a new perspective on the animal movement, for sure. And lots of helpful information I could use. Jerry
