Patrick Des Jarlait: The Story of an American Indian Artist (Voices of the American Indian)

This is a small book with a BIG STORY. Well written. Easy to read. Stories include adventures growing up on and off reservation. Although Mr. DesJarlait was not encouraged, by outside influences, to embrace his Native heritage he never lost his identity. He pursued his dream and taking advantage of all opportunities life sent his way became a well known and respected Artist. I was thrilled to learn he was the creator of the Hamm's Beer Bear (a favorite childhood cartoon character). From beginning to end this book is a testament of positive thinking, hard work, enjoying life and following your heart. BRAVO!!!! Good Color illustrations and I wish there had been more.
