great book

hi my name is nicole i am 14 and the person who wrote the book is my teachers mom.we read the book and we got to interveiw her in person.shes a really sweet woman and the book is great i would recommend it to anyone who is into adventure and mystery sortta books.i know its not a mystery book but you never know whats gonna happen next which made me read the whole book which is really hard to do cause i hate reading but its the first book i have actually took time to read word for word.good job!!

A captivating book well worth the read.

This book can be compared to Wilma Dykeman's novel The Tall Woman. Both books present mountain life and women of the mountains with dignity. Patchwork is rich with regional history and culture. I felt like I lived in the place and new the people. The book is well written and progresses easily. Detail is beautifully written and not boring. I found I read every word without skipping over long orations. Having been raised in a quilting family, I found the weaving of the significance of the quilt into the story very meaningful. I am anxious to read more from this writer. It is refreshing to see mountain people written about with such love and respect.
