A very interesting take on work, love, and stress in the male experience.

I found this book a very interesting read, having gone into it blind. Hunter’s premise is that living a good working life and living a good family life are mutually exclusive, and that devoting more energy to one naturally degrades the other. Every time the book entered areas of my own ‘lived experience,’ it was spot on. It is a thorough exploration of the territory, from how men view work and view love, through second-wave feminism and the mass migration of women into what was considered “men’s work,” to a solution — well, *a* theoretical solution, anyway (it covers MUCH more than that, but I’m not about to put a bulleted list in a review). It’s a long read, but a thoroughly interesting and intriguing one. If you happen to come across a copy, by all means, give it a go! It certainly sheds light on yourself, your man, or both.
