The best of Art Deco Pochoir fashion prints reproduced
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 16 years ago
This is a catalogue from an exhibition at the Bibloteque de l'image in Paris in 2000. The introduction is in French, English and German. Simply put this is a lovely book. It reproduces in colour, close to the original size, at least 100 pochoir prints produced in La Gazette du Bon Ton between 1912 and 1925. They have not reproduced every print made for the magazine but concentrated on the best of those images. This still results in a lot of lesser known, but still lovely prints. The only thing that's really missing is the double page prints that were also made occasionally. All the images in the book are single page prints - also they don't reproduce the metallic inks which were such a feature of some of the original works. These quibbles aside, if you love Art Deco fashion prints this book should really be in your library.

I picked up this book in a used bookstore in the Marais, Paris. It is a must-have for those who enjoy the fashion plates of La Gazette du Bon Ton.
