Book Overview

As the daughter of blockbuster author Harold Robbins, Adreana Robbins's childhood was divided between glamorous Hollywood and the picturesque south of France. Like her father's works, Adreana Robbins's debut novel is an exciting page-turner, packed with exotic settings and glimpses into the lives of the wealthy and powerful. Through her own lyrical style, reminiscent of F. Scott Fitzgerald's, Robbins captures the allure of Parisian high society and...

Seductive Read

This is a wonderful, intriguing novel, eloquently written. The story pulls the reader in from the first page and takes you on a descriptive journey through modern day Paris and the French countryside, as well as a richly textured story in Paris in the 1930's. I highly recommend this book.

A most exhilarating journey in both place and time.

Reading Adréana Robbins' "Paris Never Leaves You" is like taking the holiday of a lifetime to many different exciting cities and countries--while traveling in a time machine. Robbins' descriptions of Djuna and Joaquim Carlos' various surroundings, especially Paris, are so rich in detail that the reader can visualize the action taking place. Joaquim Carlos' journals are beautifully written; his character leaps off the page as the reader becomes endeared with his multi-faceted character. His journals of the '30s and '40s are particularly fascinating. The reader will want to re-read this book in order to take this incredible journey of the imagination once again.

A challenging read! Well documented and written.

This being Adreana's first novel I was quite impressed. To follow in the footsteps of someone so famous is not an easy task. It is well documented with the history of the 30's. It is not a smut novel, but a piece of art in the literary world. Few novels today educate the reader and challenge the mind. I had to have my French and English dictionary next to me. Though I have read other reviews that said it was too longI dont feel that way. How can you put a length on something that documents so many parts of our history. The novel touched my heart. I have been to Paris and now want to go back. I want to see the places described in the book. Reading is about learing to me. It you want a book that is boring and just takes about sex all the time, this is not it. I would conclude that this is a literary artwork, a timeless beauty that will live forever in my mind.

Engrossing, Wonderful I was Spellbound

Paris Never Leaves You is such a delightful book. This book conjures up images of France, both the past France and modern France in unique and wonderful ways. You are captured on a joyous ride and can't wait to turn the next page as you are following the story of the main characters. If you are a lover of a great read--this is the book for you. Adreana Robbins is in the category of young, exciting authors who know how to present a story in a way in which you are delighted to read from beginning page to end. I highly recommend this to all.

Fantastic, A wonderful story about Art, Paris & Life!!

From the beginning of the story, I was mesmorized by the imagery and the wonderful display of feelings about Paris. I literally could not put the book down, and was up many late nights hoping to turn to the next page, falling asleep with thoughts of Djuna and Carlos. The characters became my fanatsy world. I savored each chapter as if I would lose a friend if I read too rapidly. Not since "the Other Side of Midnight" have I been so moved by a novel. I am hoping Adreanna Robbins writes a sequel to this book and I hope it is sooner than later.
