Parenting the Strong-Willed Child: Fortifying Our Youth and Healing Our Prodigals

This book has lifted my spirits and given me needed strength to continue working with my children, even the one who is quite strong-willed. I am both a mom and a stepmom, and am finding that as a non-custodial stepmom it's sometimes hard to be the positive influence on a child we have in our home so infrequently. I appreciate this book for pointing out the various parenting styles and have been able to identify myself and the other parent in the ideas presented. Why my stepchild is the way that he is, made a lot more sense after reading and I learned new tools to work with him in a more positive and contructive way. I also think that these ideas will be helpful for me as I work with my other children. I'm hoping that I have learned enough to correct my parenting style so that the other children won't be as rebelious or if they do, I hope that I have learned better what to do.
