This reader is a great collection of short stories with each story about 8-12 pages long. It also has comprehension questions at the end of each story. Our local elementary school has chosen to keep using these old Houghton Mifflin readers. Parades is read around the middle of 1st grade. The newer approved reading curriculums (from TX anyway) just don't compare according to our teachers. As a parent I'm grateful for how well my 7 year old with ADHD, Dyslexia and ODD is reading. That's why I was out here buying three used-but-like-new copies of Parades for our school.
