Pajama Light

Pajama Light is a first-rate book about a young girl and her father taking their nightly walk along the coastline to the nearby lighthouse. But don't take my word for it, take DJ's. My four-year-old son often chooses this book for his bedtime story. It's masterfully told in rhyme, a perfect style for four-year-olds who are just beginning to grasp this concept. Gale Sypher Jacob's words are well-chosen; soft and melodic, echoing not only the coastal setting, but also the gorgeous pastel illustrations, which change in color and intensity as the story (and time of evening) progresses. The climax--when the lighthouse light first begins to flash--never fails to thrill DJ (and me). We both strongly recommend this book.

This is a lovely story about the special love between a young girl and her dad. Their before bedtime ritual takes them on a short trip to the nearby lighthouse. The end of the day has come and so it is time to say goodnight. Written in rhyme, this story is a delight to read. Soft, gentle illustrations capture the beauty of the ocean, lighthouse and surrounding woods and fields, and make the reader feel as if he is a part of the story. Pajama Light is a perfect bedtime story.

This is a great bedtime book! It's got great rhythm. It's not too long so I can read it more than once and not turn the bedtime routine into an eternity! The illustrations are beautiful. The colors are rich and deep. This book is great!

I recently bought this book for my four year old daughter and her father who read together at bedtime. They both really enjoy the story of a little girl and her father who take a walk at dusk to say goodnight to a lighthouse. The pictures are beautiful and the story was written with a gentle sing-song quality which is very calming at bedtime. It transports us to our favorite beach vacation memories!
