For anyone who has ever baited a hook

Bill Adler's Outwitting Fish: An Angler's Guide To Proving That The Smarter Creature Is On The Dry End Of The Fishing Rod is a deft and very witty compendium of sage advice and practical information for anglers on everything from what types of fish are the easiest to catch, what's the best rod for under $100 (or under $10!); does rain and barometric pressure affect fish behavior; do fish learn from past experience; what the most common mistakes fishermen make; and much more. Outwitting Fish is enthusiastically recommended reading for anyone who has ever baited a hook!

Loved it ... and it made me a better angler, too!

Well, it's no secret that I'm a fan of Bill Adler's. Ever since I discovered Outwitting Squirrels and used it to keep my bird feeder free of those pesky critters, I've been recommending his stuff to friends and relatives. But I was pleasantly surprised to see he's branched out from how-to books about keeping animals at bay, to do this book, which is for people who actively want to get more of an animal -- namely, fish. Now, I've gone fishing a few times, but after reading this book I'm definitely going with a new attitude. Like his other books, this book is primarily about the fun of the activity. There's no doubt that we humans are capable of outwitting a fish, and this book, like any fishing book, shows you how -- but it also shows you how to have fun at the same time, and that's what I like about it. Great gift for anyone who's getting into fishing, too!
