Book Overview

Worry has a way of growing, shifting from not-a-big-deal to a VERY BIG DEAL in the blink of an eye. This big-deal Worry is tricky, luring children into behaviours that keep the anxiety cycle going. Children often find it hard to fight back against Worry, but not anymore.

Outsmarting Worry teaches 9-13 year olds and the adults who care about them a specific set of skills that makes it easier to face - and overcome - worries and fears...

Great for kids, and also adults

This is a terrific book. I am thankful for it as a parent of an anxious kid. I'm also thankful for it as a professional. It is written for kids, but as a therapist, I have recommended this book to as many adults as children. I have dozens of books on treating anxiety, but this one most effectively cuts to the chase with clear descriptions and concrete recommendations. The explanations of the neuroscience related to anxiety, the examples (school, family, environmental situations and whatnot), and the fun illustrations are accessible for kids. If an adult can accept the kid oriented examples, it is perfectly applicable to adult situations as well. Highly recommended for both audiences.
