Nineteenth Century Classic: Rainsford's Our Lord Prays for His Own
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 14 years ago
It's a shame this book is currently out of print. Marcus Rainsford's insights into the Lord's Prayer in the 17th chapter of the gospel of John fill 400 pages. The book is divided into a short chapter (or two) on each of the 26 verses, making it ideal for a daily devotional reading. Also included is some brief biographical information.

"Timely relevant devotional thoughts", so says Cyril Barber in The Minister's Library of this exposition of Jesus's Prayer in John 17. Marcus Rainsford (1820-1897) was born in Ireland and pastored for many years there and later at St. John's Church in Belgrave Square in London. Rainsford writes with much passion and emotion, and it is an easy read for a book written from this era. He does a fantastic job of consistently drawing the believer's attention to their security in Christ, and God The Father's love for the Son and His Church as one. The book contains a short biography of Rainsford and also an interview of Rainsford by D.L Moody during one of his evangelistic campaigns in London. A true classic read it and be blessed.
