Took this course at queens college for both organic 1 & 2 with Dr. Engel. book is mandatory if you want to actually learn and understand Organic chemistry. there is a Brand NEW binder version of his new book. there is also a software with the entire text with questions and solutions on it. [...]

I had professor Engel at Queens College. If you are in his class Orgo 1 or Orgo 2 - having his text book is almost necessary. He does NOT follow the assigned book. IN my opinion everything is unclear UNLESS you have hi book.

I attempted every single question for the first 8 chapters of this book. I really enjoyed this book and had only a few problems with some of the questions (the answer in the solutions guide was far different than what I expected). I really thought this book would live on past the first edition. If you are an aspiring organic chemist, I believe this book will give you the fundamentals to a successful career. After a year with this book, I got A's in almost every Advanced O-CHEM class I took thereafter.
