One Thousand Beautiful Things, A Collection of Prose and Poetry

Love this book, has so many beautiful poems in it and some of them just touch the sould.

I'm normally a poetry hater, but this anthology just makes me happy. From little one-liners to long stories these are the best selections to uplift your spirits. Not just pure sap either, there is plenty of bittersweet happiness too as in pieces on sacrifice, honour, & love lost. It took me ten years to find a book store that had this collection of "beautiful things" after encountering it at my school library, and it was very much worth the search. It is the kind of treasure book you can open at random points & find something new to enjoy everytime. It's a book to relish for a lifetime.

Perfect title...my poetry-loving teenage daughter brought this home from her school library and all of us have loved something in it. One included story "He knew Lincoln" made me cry.Great for word-lovers...a treasure trove masterfully compiled.

This is a fine collection of sayings and writings from many places. I buy this book periodically as it comes back in print. The most interesting surprise was when I purchased the CD, "The Book of Secrets" Loreena McKennitt; it had "The Highwayman" in it as a song. This is a poem by Alfred Noyes. This is but one of the thousand beautiful things.
