Definitely an unusual book

I predict Susan Floyd will go far. ONE OF THE FAMILY is a real, down-to-earth story about real, down-to-earth people with difficulties that are not easily solved. How her unique characters deal with what's plopped on their plate and relate to each other makes a charming, heart-warming, moving, and unusual story. This is an endearing breath-of-fresh air book; this new author is gonna be a star. Lynna Banning

touching, realistic, romantic

I read this one right out of the box and didn't put it down until it was over. From the very first page, the story of Phoebe and Mitch drew me in, wrapped around my heart and wouldn't let go. Delightful!

Made Me Laugh, Made Me Cry

One of the Family is a book that's full of heart, refreshingly real and down to earth. The characters pull at me, particularly Katie, the angst-ridden adolescent, and the widowed mother, Bess. The scene where the heroine, Phoebe, is chattering to the calves really got to me--it's so tender! Mitch, the hero, is totally heroic and believable, the kind of man every woman wants. The setting, a California dairy farm, is unusual, but so are the characters and the story; this is romance at its best--heartening, uplifting, touching. Susan Floyd is going far.

A sweet, tear jerking expierence awaits...

If you are looking for a good cry or even a laugh this book is great. Phoebe Douglas is a hard working woman struggling with the demands placed on her from family and the economy. Moving to a small dairy owned by the Hawkins family. During her stay, Phoebe helps with chores and learns what a hard life living on a dairy actually is. During this time she helps Mitch Hawkins realize that even with the dairy (the only thing he has) that he needs more. He helps her out but can she help him? For all the answers read the book. The sensitivity, feelings and anger leap off the page and into life (at least they did for me).
