Beautiful photos + interesting reading

This is a beautiful coffee table book. It covers all of the regions of France and the major towns in each region. It has beautiful photos and contains interesting detailed information about each town - its history and what it is famous for - wine, food and other things.

My friend loved it.

I bought this for my friend for Christmas and he absolutely loved it. The pictures were beautiful. He loves France and has visited and studied the language for years. It was perfect for him.

Un beau livre!! This is a great addition to the coffee table book lover's collection and a great gift for the Foodie/Gourmand. You can't help but have an appreciation for France's time-honored traditions of enjoying good food and good wine. The regions of France are mapped out for you with a guide to which towns are highlighted in the book. Used as a quick reference book, you can quickly find out which epicurean delight any of the regions are best known for. Address, telephone and website information is also provided for a variety of stores, hotels and restaurants for each town featured. You can easily lose yourself in this book with stunning photography and well written descriptions. If you've been to France - you'll want to go back. If you've never been to France, you will want to go for sure. This could be the foodie's travel guide to France.

Essential reading/ reference if you area Francophile !

This amazing book leads you through beautiful France with a gentle hand. It opens doors not otherwise available unless you have unlimited time to research across a wide range of texts. Each step into each Department ensures another ( and different ) breath catching sight into ancient and contemporary France. Even though it is a heavy ( weightwise) text it is essential to take it with you. The index in back of the book it a treasure trove of information that otherwise would not be available to you. I rate this book as one of my special treasures and will be taking it with me for the 2 months I intend spending in the south of France in September and October. Don't buy another book until you have put this treasure in your library even if just for pure pleasure of meandering through beautiful France.
