One Cop's Story: A Life Remembered has reached and completed its fourth year on the market. It still is selling, especially to young men and women interested in the field of Law Enforcement. The book in its early publication almost made the national market, however it is still alive and well to those readers interested in the field and students participating in Criminal Justice Studies. Hardcovers and soft covers are still AVAILABLE.

Very good book about the life of being a Trooper.Makes you see that there are many good sides to being a trooper, but there are also many downsides. Very well written to show there are ups and downs, but in the end there is much pride and satisfaction in doing a good job and being a good "cop". As an ex-trooper myself, I firmly believe that anyone interested in law enforcement as a career would really enjoy reading this excellent book.
A great book for someone considering law enforcement.

If you would like a good autobiography on the life of a state trooper, you will enjoy this book. For any young person in a Criminal Justice Course of study, and planning a career in law enforcement I think "One Cop's Story: A Life Remembered" should be must reading. DON'T read it expecting to find out a whole lot about laws and proceedures in law enforcement. John's career dates back to World War II.DON'T read it to get the facts on salary and perks in today's New York State Troopers. His starting pay was $4.25 per hour. Don't get the book for all the pictures. They are all in black and white and not a single picture with a drawn gun, nor a criminal in handcuffs.DO buy the book because if, like most people interested in a career in criminal justice, you have watched one too many episodes of "Cops" on tv with the lights flashing, high speed chases and guns drawn, you will get a good perspective on what the real job really is.DO buy the book if you are interested in the relationships that are created within the troop and barracks.DO buy the book if you want to see from first hand experience the stress and strain, being a cop, can put on a persons family life.DO buy the book if you are interested in reading an autobiography of an interesting life in the New York State Police. So often when I see a trooper, all I see is that intimidating uniform. John Bryant lets us look behind and beyond that uniform and see the person. John shares his life struggles his loneliness, his fears, his successes and his failures. "One Cop's Story: A Life Remembered", its good reading.
