VERY CAPTIVATING! ! !

I truly enjoyed this book. He was a highwayman that stole her precious ring and her heart. Little did she realize that she stole his heart too. Dylan Marlow was disinherited by his Uncle, the Earl of Stoke because of a prank he pulled at Oxford. He started out wanting to marry Amelia Benedict for her money but then couldn't do it because he loved her and could not do that to her as he felt she deserved better than that. He had to win her heart. A very good read.

Twice Charmed

Sherri Browning's second historical is as witty, sharp, and sexy as her debut novel, The Scoundrel's Vow. Once Wicked is a regency romp filled with warmth, humor, sparkling dialog and lively characterizations. History buffs will enjoy the inclusion of Caroline Lamb and Lady Melbourne among the cast of characters. A fun read.

Wickedly sensual

This is the first book I have read by Sherri Browning. What a fun time I had reading this book. The tall dark and mysterious highwayman robs Amelia Benedict and she robs his heart... Dylan Marlow was disinherited by his rich uncle and left to a life of poverity. Thankfully it really doesn't come to that. He decides he will be sort of a robin hood rob from the rich to take for himself. His first victim in none other than Amelia...Now he wants to steal her heart. Find out what he does.....

A Reader's Opinion

This reader is in the mood to quibble with one "professional" reviewer. Ms. Browning has crafted a classic highwayman plot but with a unique twist, tumbling both her hero and heroine into a series of events that quickly escalate out of their control. The characters, both primary and secondary, two footed and four, are drawn with care and with an eye to uniqueness. Ms. Browning knows humans are full of quirks and unusual characteristics, and she uses this knowlege to create characters so real I'd like to see them have the chance to live in my imagination again, perhaps someday in their own stories.Dylan Marlow is a man who once strolled among the rich but left them after an unfortunate incident. Now left with little more than an abysmal shipping business, he makes the fateful decision to use those he now abhors to his advantage -- he will become a highwayman and steal from the rich to finance his rebuilding efforts. But though his first attempt ends succesfully, it also ends unexpectedly, when a stolen kiss kindles something deep and surely dangerous within the bad boy Marlow. The recipient of that stolen kiss is Amelia, a well-to-do but certainly not typical young woman. I liked Amelia. Her sense of humor, her very human allergies, and her willingness to take chances for love made her a heroine worth remembering. Ms. Browning's presentation of Amelia's reactions to that first scandalizing kiss into a woman falling in love with her unknown thief rang true. Add a boorish suitor with devious plans of his own, a knowing maid, and an endearing child to the mix and you'll find yourself entertained as a reader hopes to be entertained everytime he or she picks up a new book.Ms. Browning's second book has shown her growing maturity as a writer. She has taken us firmly in hand and given us a brief glimpse into the past and done so with a delightful, fun and exciting story. It will be exciting to see Ms. Browning's next effort. I for one look forward to it eagerly.

Delightfully wicked romance

In 1812 England, Miss Amelia Benedict feels she is wealthy enough to live life without the burden of a husband. That changes when a highwayman steals her beloved ring and departs with a kiss that shakes the very core of Amelia's being. Passion has exploded inside the formerly aloof Amelia.Dylan Marlow swears he will restore his family fortune. To accomplish this Herculean feat, he robs from the rich as a highwayman. He also plans to marry someone wealthy. Dylan has selected Amelia whose shared kiss shook his bones. However, he quickly learns that Amelia loves his alterego. Still, the scoundrel vows to win his beloved's heart without donning a mask.ONCE WICKED is a humorous, entertaining Regency romance that will please sub-genre fans or anyone who enjoys their novels having a comical twist to the plot. The story line is fast-paced, filled with action, and an intriguing triangle. Sherri Browning provides readers with a wonderfully jocular historical romance.Harriet Klausner
