The adventures of a group of children who set out on a boat trip and run into a pirate ship. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I forked over 30 bucks to get an old copy of this book so my my two young kids could have a taste of this great pirate adventure tale. When it finally came in the mail and I opened it, I was quickly reminded why my brothers and I loved this book so much - probally because of the fun, detailed illustrations and of course identifying with the group of youngsters who leave the village harbor in their row boat only to find themselves coming face to face with a real pirate ship and it's crew of friendly pirates (or at least most of them). The reader follows the childrens adventures they encounter on the ship and out at sea. Another delightful aspect of this book is the fact that there is no traditional text but rather fun quotes and captions over the various charaters heads - even the ship's mermaid figurehead has lines. I'm glad I was able to track down a copy and in my opinion it was worth the extra $. I'm not surprised it's a household favorite.
I still love the book and so do my children.

I found my old Once Upon a Pirate Ship book in a box. I pulled it out and now my 4 year old son has me read it to him every night. There is so much going on in every page of the book. My son really loves the swordfish with the jagged nose.
Wish I had one!

I had this one as well when I was young! What an adventure! My mother still has my copy but I would love to find one for my little ones!
