On the Run

I really enjoy reading her books!!! This one was excellent!!!

Fear; Uncertainty; Risk; Reluctant trust; and above all, the ultimate love and sense of protection only a Mother can have. A story that will bring tears of fear and unbelievable joy to your heart. You will not be able to put this book down. A true continuation to the writing talents already known to the fans of Iris Johansen. I love this woman's heart!

Accomplished actress Jennifer Van Dyck has numerous stage, film, and television appearances to her credit. On Broadway she was seen in such hit plays as Hedda Gabler and Dancing At Lughnasa. Her TV roles include those on Law & Order, Ed, and Spin City. Woody Allen wanted her for Bullets Over Broadway and now, luckily, we can enjoy her sterling narration of On The Run. She limns the dogged determination of a mother who will do whatever is necessary to protect her child, and the courage of a woman forced to stand alone against evil. When horse trainer and single mom Grace Archer and her daughter, Frankie, find that their cover is blown, Grace is faced with some daunting options. After having been under CIA protection on an Alabama horse farm, she finds that the CIA wants payback - using Grace and Frankie as bait to capture Marvot, a thoroughly evil Middle Eastern kingpin. Now, Grace isn't simply a horse trainer; it's almost as if she has a bond with the equine world. She doesn't call herself a horse whisperer but she is capable of teaching horses to do some pretty marvelous things. And, that's exactly what Marvot wants her to do - teach his Arabian stallion and mare to take him to desert hidden treasure. Grace has nowhere to turn except to Jake Kilmer, a former commando and Frankie's father. But, can she trust even him? I have to say that although I am a Iris Johansen fan through and through, the last few novels she has written were not up to the same level as her earlier Eve Duncan books. ON THE RUN was a quick read that kept you glued to the pages. It definitely leaves room for a whole new set of characters to build stories off of in future books. To give you a heads up. I have noticed a recent decline in the romance angle of Johansen's books. Her novels are once again metamorphasing from romantic suspense into straight fiction (action/suspense) style books. Still just as entertaining, but for the die hard fans who have followed her career throughout the years, be prepared for yet another change. I would gladly write a summary of this suspense novel, but everything that you need to know about the story line is well stated in the book's description and I would only repeat the obvious. Instead, I will give my opinion on my tell tale question for all my reviews. Is it worth the money? Absolutely. I paid full price for the hard bound book newly released and have no regrets whatsoever.

I picked up Johansen's Book "Face of Deception" in an airport, I couldn't put it down. I ran out and purchased every book I could find written by Johansen. She has fast become my favorite author. This book is no exception. It is not one of my top favorites, but very well writen just the same. No one can touch her style of writing, keeps the reader turning page after page. This is a little different than the Eve Duncan story line, but none the less captivating. I look forward to the continuing story line of Grace Acher and Frankie.
