On Becoming Teenwise

This is a helpful book for parents who are having serious problems with their teenaged child. I was looking for a book on the more basic teen behaviors, such as talking back etc, and this book does not really get into the more basic issues.

Child Wise Series

All of these books are phenomenally Biblically based, using wisdom, discernment, and good sense. We have used the books from Baby Wise to Teen Wise (and their classroom versions) for all of our children and have found them to be exactly what we needed in a no-nonsense manner that really reached the hearts of our children. Anyone can get their child to behave - it's reaching their hearts that is the key. These books help you get to that exact place. Top read that no parent should live without.

Timely Advice for Parents

This book was just in time for our family! It's great to not have to be caught off guard by the changes that our Eight-year-old is heading into. We would highly recommend.

Baby Wise

very good advice and easy to apply to ones life. Common sense stuff plus gives you the tools to implement behavioral changes and make the family life less stressful. One of the things I enjoyed was feeding time and nap time being set by an internal clock. The time to eat and sleep is set by the parent and the child will eventuall fall into that pattern. So when my son was little I would tickle his feet to keep him awake, so he didn't just snack and nap but eat a full meal ([...] fed) and he slept thru the whole night and didn't wake up wanting food. It works and the other books are just as great.

I now understand my teen!

On Becoming Teenwise is an excellent book for parents who have children ages 13 through 19, and the book gives one an excellent direction as to how your younger adolescent SHOULD go! A test is given to the parent early in the book and reveals what is lacking in your relationship with him/her as well as what the parent has done right so far in upbringing the child. Many suggestions are offered to remedy, for instance, a lack of responsibility in doing chores, or being able to meet a curfew. The book also explains how to handle situations that as a parent you don't appreciate-like when your son/daughter hangs around the wrong crowd. The book also has a very interesting chapter on "Love Languages". These five essential languages are a vital eye-opener and shows how your teens accepts love from others! Some children, for instance need encouraging words, while other teens feel more loved by quality time spent with them, or small acts of service. I would definetly put this book in my library at home and strongly encourage parents to read this eye-opener on teens!
