If your thinking of becoming a collector, having this book will give you a great cross section from common to rare stamps and all that's in between. A must have handbook that is chock full of U.S. Postage Stamps and current values.

Originally this was purchased for my dad, then I purchased a copy for myself. I found that stamps I have from just a year or two ago are worth double the face value. I was about to use them for my mailings and add the additional postage, until I realized their value. The book is easy to use, easy to read and very well laid out. I would recommend this for anyone who collects stamps or for a gift to any stamp collector. The size of the book means enables me to carry this in my purse when I go to antique stores and look at old postcards/letters and find my treasure.

This series (published annually) is an extremely handy way to identify and value U.S. stamps. Color photographs of nearly every U.S. definitive and commemorative stamp, along with prices for used and unused varieties and Scott catalog numbers, makes the book valuable by itself. Add to that its convenient "pocket sized" dimensions, and it's a very good carry-along to stamp shows and dealers. Even includes check-mark areas so you can catalog what you already have, or for marking your "want list."
