Book Overview

When Obama stated that if elected, he would keep his Blackberry, debate echoed through Washington and among the ranks of the Secret Service. What would it be like to have a president who could Twitter, send text messages, and navigate the web with ease? What would it be like to receive a text message from inside the Oval Office and, most importantly, what would it say?

Now, for the first time, We The People are privy to our new leader's epistolary...

Fun, fun, fun

Obama's BlackBerry "OBAMA'S Blackberry" is a small and fun book. Not every entry bowled me over with laughter, but most entries cracked me up with laughter. Overall, I would count it as a good book to carry on a bus or subway as you head to work. It's a good book for the beach too. I enjoyed seeing the different names of people in government: Of course, our President Obama, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Biden, Alan Greenspan, etc. I really enjoyed reading Mahlia's entries. Her entries, Michelle's entries and Bill Clinton's words struck me as true blue, not out of character at all. Sasha has text on the blackberry too. I do see Sasha as a little girl who can easily make friends. It was hard for me to remember that all the entries are fictional, pretend. Now, if we can only get our hands on a blackberry with what their really texting one another. To me President OBama came across as the Great Listener and the workaholic. He's constantly being bugged by all of his fellow workers who want a moment of relief from work and stress. After reading this do I want a blackberry? No, not yet. By the way, this is a good beach book too.

A book to unite the parties?

I think most of us right or left are tired of the programs that tell you if you don't hate the other party the world will end tomorrow. You can't give in because the other side is out to destroy the world. Well here is a little book you can read to get away from all that. It pokes fun at the people in politics and lets you know that it really isn't all that serious. The book has pictures of blackberry conversations with different people and the president and they are funny. They have even gone to the extent of thinking up cute screen names for everyone. The president is BarackO, The Vice President is BidenMyTime, the First Lady is FirstLady2U and Bill Clinton is WildBill. There are many others. This book takes stereotypes to the extreme and will give both sides a good laugh. It's pricy for such a small book but it is a great coffee table or bathroom book.

Satire, Blackberry Style

As a short, coffee-table style book, this comic take on Obama's communication was hilarious in a lot of politically savvy sort of ways. If you didn't know who some of the characters were in the book, you wouldn't understand completely why they were so funny, but it still could make you giggle. Not that I completely understood who all of the people were, but I laughed at some references, such as to Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh. I also laughed really hard at a forward from Sarah Palin to the president, along with a funny email communication about a Tickle Me Elmo. They are obviously satirizing many situations and people in our current political climate, and I found it to be really light, easy, and fun to read!

I laughed out loud again and again

It is just funny! Each page tops the one before it, some are funny only because a previous 'text' set up that page's joke. The jokes build as the book goes on. A reviewer said that the book is not tough enough on the president, but it gets in plenty of jabs at the geek-in-chief.

Hilarious

Judge this book by its cover. The text-speak between BarackO and BidenMyTime, WildBill, FirstLady2U and (my favorite) [email protected] (guess who that is) are as funny as anything you'll see on the Daily Show. I read it cover to cover and back again.
