Like all books published by major illustrated book publishing companies -- and Sterling is one of the most successful publishers in this field -- the paper in this book is acid-free and will likely last much longer than the newspapers it reproduces. The reviewer below confuses acid-free paper with glossy paper. The paper in this book is acid-free but has a matte finish that complements the content, i.e., newspaper front pages. With all of the books about President Barack Obama, it's kind of hard deciding which ones to purchase. I pre-ordered this book and thought that it would be great to see front page newpapers all over the country showcasing his election and his inauguration. Well, this book definitely fit the bill. I love it!! I kind of wished the paper was a bit thicker and glossier, but it has the exact content I was hoping for. I would definitely recommend this book and think that it would be a great gift for anyone who wants to remember this historic election and presidency!

There are several reasons why I think this book is amazing. One, the pages almost feel like newsprint, which I assume was intentional being that the book is called "The Historic Front Pages". Two, the speeches are way easier to read in this form than in any other form I have seen. For the first time, I feel like I have read the whole speech, not just an excerpt. Three, I think it's amazing that you can not only see these newspapers from around the world but also read them. (the ones in English anyway) In general I feel like for every Obama supporter out there, that read every newspaper, and looked at every picture, they now have everything in one place, in a beautiful, well crafted coffee table book. It is the perfect way to preserve this amazing time in our lives!

Unfortunately jigglypuff is wrong about the paper stock of this amazing coffee table book. While the pages aren't glossy they are much heavier than traditional paper and give a much better look and feel for a book that spans the globe for the best images and newspaper headlines and revolves around hundreds of local and international newspapers. It also includes fully transcribed speeches from Obama's time on the campaign trail as well as his Inauguration - these are truly inspiring to see in print and it's such a clean and easy read for all ages. Another knock to jigglypuff's review is that several of the newspaper excerpts are pulled from the paper and printed on their own page. The papers and articles can all easily be read. Simply put, there are no words that cannot be read in this book, from front pages in Korea to editorials in Indiana. There is really no other book that contains such timeless images - and the price just can't be beat. You won't see such an impressive collection of front pages and commentary anywhere else. While several publishers have rushed books on President Obama to press with many of the same shots we've all seen, it's refreshing to see so many original images and photos in this book. It will be on my coffee table for at least four years and hopefully more.
