I take a chance on unfamiliar books often. Doesn’t always work out. This was a chance buy. Arrived today. I am buying 4 more copies as gifts immediately. It is difficult to be a good parent and person in the US sometimes. Teaching my kids about the crime of the ‘Indian princess’ stereotype, when I’m up against the machine of Disney/Mattel/TV is not an easy task. This book offers an amazing powerful set of alternative views and voices that help to fill the gap I create when I say ‘not that’. I can now offer my kids, ‘not that. this’. Hopefully it creates openness to better relationships, more learning, understanding, humility, solidarity. Huge gratitude to Charleyboy and Leatherdale.
