Follow Callie, Declan, Lasser, and Radish as they embark on a new adventure in the second installment of the hit Webtoon series Nothing Special, featuring new, exclusive behind-the-scenes material from the inimitable Katie Cook. "Smart, sweet, and totally original, Nothing Special is sure to captivate." --Sarah Andersen, New York Times bestselling author of Fangs, Sarah's Scribbles, and Cryptid Club After defeating her neurotic wood nymph mother, all Callie wants to do is help her dad with his magical antique shop, tease Lasser about his newfound romance novel addiction, and--most important--spend time with her boyfriend, Declan. But when Declan's injured fairy wing starts shooting sparks and causes him to collapse in pain, Callie decides to take matters into her own hands and find a way to heal him. She knows where to start, at least--with her dad's boring friend, Professor Larkspur, who in addition to serving the grossest cup of tea in history, is a fairy himself and incredibly knowledgeable about his kind. Armed with new information, Callie, Declan, Lasser, and Radish set out to find a fairy healer. But what starts as a simple four-day journey to visit a particular enclave of fairies ends up becoming a much more profound exploration of not only what Declan is, but exactly who he is to the fairies.... The second installment of Katie Cook's Nothing Special collects the first 25 chapters of Season 2 of the webcomic and features exclusive behind-the-scenes content.

Soon after Callie and Declan's first magical adventure, their rest is interrupted when Declan's injured fairy wing starts sparking and causing him pain when he tried to use his magic to learn what type of fairy he is. What should have been a simple trek to find an elusive fairy party to find help, quickly evolves into a search for answers for not only what type of fairy Deklan is, but how special of a fairy he is.
I would like it noted for posterity that I did not read volume 1, nor have I read this series on webtoons: Volume two Concerning Wings is my first venture into Declan and Callie's world, and I could not be happier! Starting off, the commentary from the little - what I now come to know as - ghost radishes and vegetables are freaking adorable. How they are on every single page, gave the pages with a lot of blank space a sense of completion, and it was very pleasing to the eye. All of the characters, especially the main radish themselves, were very emotive and unique individuals, which gave their interpersonal dynamics a great spark and made for a great read.
The story was fantastic. The art made an already fascinating world immersive and helped to carry the story forward - not that it needed any help, mind you! Thankfully, enough stuff was explained for me to understand the story thus far, so I didn't need to read volume one, but it also left me curious enough for me to want to read volume one. (Which I now have, hehe.) There were also a couple flashbacks in the story; I really appreciated it how it was announced by the radishes in the blank space, that the flashbacks were starting and ending at the chapter marks - each chapter they also announced - but with knowing the flashback was coming it wasn't as jarring as in some series I have read.
By the end, I wanted more of this world. Sadly. the third volume will not be out until June 2025, But I am going to saver volume one, just like I did this volume. I highly recommend if you like cute characters, a very interesting world, and adorableness overload with one heck of a story and adventure.
