A laugh-out-loud novel about motherhood, life, and the quest for eight hours of sleep.
Event planner and famous blogger Clare Finnegan expected to go back to work after her daughter was born. After all, she worked hard for her success...and it's not like now that she has a child she has to buy a minivan, wear Mom Jeans, and give up her career Right? Despite more than a few pounds of baby weight still left to lose, Clare dons her...
I really enjoyed reading about Clare in A Bump in the Road, and was so excited when I saw there was a sequel coming! Not Ready for Mom Jeans did not disappoint! It takes place shortly after the first book left off and follows Clare's life as a new mom. As a mom myself, so much was relatable to me, Clare's battle with losing the pregnancy pounds, and her more difficult struggle with how to achieve the balance between being a working mom and a good mom. But I think even non-moms will enjoy, as there's a lot to love in the way Lipinski charts out the family dynamics, especially Clare's relationships with her mother and her younger sister. This book manages to touch on so many issues important to women, but does so with humor, so it'll also keep you laughing out loud. Recommending this one to all my friends!

I read Lipinski's "A Bump in the Road" a few months ago and loved it! (Note: "Not Ready for Mom Jeans" is a follow up book to "A Bump in the Road," and I definitely recommend reading "A Bump in the Road" first so you can get all the back stories, etc. on the characters.) I was so excited to read "Not Ready for Mom Jeans" and find out what else was in store for Clare and company! I was definitely not disappointed... The book picks up as Clare's maternity leave is coming to an end and follows Clare as she enrolls new baby Sara in day care and returns to work. You will laugh out loud as Clare zips up her "Miss Piggy Pants" every day and tries to function at work on a couple of hours of sleep as she plans her ex-college sweetheart's society golf tournament. And you will also feel real sympathy for Clare as she agonizes over being away from Sara while simultaneously dealing with her friend Reese's disintegrating marriage and her own mother's battle with breast cancer. "Not Ready for Mom Jeans" reads like chatty e-mails from a close friend. Clare's character is so relatable, and I think this is what makes the book so much fun. I really hope this is not the last we have seen of Clare and family... I read this book in one day and highly recommend it! It is a fun, light read yet also very touching. It will definitely strike a cord with you if you are a mom or are thinking of becoming one! Enjoy!!!
Finally!! Its here! Even better than I hoped!

Finally. I could not wait for the further adventures of Clare. How would she handle motherhood, being a working mom, etc. This book did not disapoint. Funny. Poignant. Romance. Being a mom, daughter, friend, wife, sibling. Something for everyone. Bring it on a plane. A beach. The train. Loved it.
Great book, especially for the summer

I loved Lipinski's last book, so I was very excited when I heard the sequel was coming out. I went to go pick it up yesterday at my local Borders. It has been only a little more twenty four hours since I started reading it, and I am already half way through. I keep on reading it. What I love about this series is how relatable the characters and relationships are, which can sometimes be rare in the chick lit genre. I know so many women who are dealing with the same issues of work v. home life that Clare is dealing with. Plus, Lipinski's writing is very funny and acerbic. I love this book, and can't wait to finish it.
